Freeze-Proof Valve for Outdoor Faucet (PV-T) - 1 Unit

I ordered this because no matter what I do I always have a pipe or two freeze even after draining them and it is usually at a faucet or shut off.This is a small and compact device that you just screw on and then it has a rubber strap that you can use to 'hold' it onto the faucet. I am not really sure what that does as it is held on when you screw it on.To test this out I turned off the faucet and then screwed this on and then turned the faucet back on. I saw no leaks which means that part works. What I could not test is if this actually prevents freezing inside the faucet. Conceptually it should work as this opens up when the pressure gets too high, which means the water is expanding with no where to go (i.e. freezing).I will update this review after winter if it does not work.Overall, this cost less than it would take to replace/repair a busted faucet and it is a breeze to put on. I will get more of these if they work as they should this winter.

When the temperatures start dropping, I immediately turn off the water to the outside faucets. However, in early winter, the temperatures bounce up and down and having easy access to water outside is nice. That's why I like this nifty little accessory. It prevents freeze damage down to around 0 F.It is carefully designed and manufactured, promising years of protection. While the significant test will come in winter 2024, I am ready now as temps dip back below freezing now and then.Get peace of mind and the convenience of longer outdoor water access during winter's onset.

This expansion valve is such a great idea. I've been using those foam covers over my faucets and while they do help somewhat, this device has a temperature activated valve that activates in cold weather which can help prevents freezing pipes from expansion. You do lose 1-2 gallons of water per hour during very cold temperatures but it's not a significant loss when you consider the cost of replacing damaged pipes.The best thing is how easy it is to install. You just screw it on where your hose normally goes and that's it. Removing it is also easy. It's still cold enough here that it gets below freezing overnight and I was able to test this valve. It works well and it will not leak when the temperature is over 35 or so. Great product.
